I'd love to hear from you

My Story

I'm one of those annoying people who love what they do for a living. Growing up I always had my head in a book, I went on to be that kid who aced English, ran the school magazine and wrote excruciatingly unironic poetry. After high school I headed north to Auckland and got my Bachelor of Communications, majoring in journalism, from AUT.

Perhaps showing hints of the convincing marketer I would become, I talked my way into work experience at Pavement Magazine and then a full-time job. The rest (as Tom Holland would say) is history. Work for ACP (She/More Magazine, Fashion Quarterly) Fairfax/Stuff publications and TVNZ followed. In the early naughties, PR maven Deborah Pead offered me a job and I made the (better paid) jump from media across to the dark-side of "communications" . I spent a decade working with a diverse list of amazing clients (including Honda, KFC, Pizza Hut, Telecom, NZ Dairy Foods, Pfizer, Woolworths, Foster's and more) delivering "through the line" campaigns where traditional advertising was part of a broader engagement strategy including marketing elements like PR, events, DM and social influence.

These days I live in sunny Ngāmotu (New Plymouth) with my two daughters and slightly neurotic schnauzer. In the years since returning (to Taranaki and work after a break to start my family) I have freelanced as a copywriter and communications contractor.
